The Magasin du Nord Fashion Prize is Denmark’s biggest award for fashion design. Launched in 2012, the annual award of 300,000 DKK (approximately €40,000) and a personalised technical and financial support from a group of industry specialists goes to a rising star designer selected by a panel of Danish and international experts. This support covers various areas of expertise that are critical to an upcoming fashion brand. The Prize was established by the Magasin du Nord Foundation as the next step in its commitment to nurturing Danish design talents.
The judging is divided into two stages. First, a committee of Danish fashion experts select the finalists, assessing applicants for creativity, innovation and technical skills, together with business strategy and a responsible production, as well as the brand’s potential to thrive in Denmark and abroad.
The shortlisted finalists will be presented during a press event during Copenhagen Fashion Week in August 2019. Final judging by the international Jury will take place November 5th 2019.
“Investing in the future of fashion is at the core of the Magasin Foundation’s values and vision. For many years the Foundation has supported young designers as they take their first steps in the business. We are passionate about innovation and creativity – we see it as our duty to bring an injection of freshness and energy into the industry.”

“It is with great enthusiasm that I follow the world of Danish design. These days, Denmark has a range of strong talents. I hope the prize will help yet another new Danish brand to establish itself at home – and hopefully abroad, too. An endowment of this size can make a huge difference for an up-and-coming designer.”
